Happy Wheels hospitality cart in action at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford

Ronald McDonald House at Stanford is committed to serving as many families of seriously ill children as possible; yet the demand for rooms has grown to the extent that there are still many families who are referred to other housing or must remain in the hospital for extended periods of time.

Designed to serve families who wait for hours without leaving the hospital or their child's bedside, the "Happy Wheels" hospitality cart provides a bit of comfort as it travels the hospital hallways, bringing parents a hot beverage and snack while keeping the little ones entertained with books, fun activities, and toys.

Recently, Smart Design, an international, award-winning design consultanting firm collaborated with staff and volunteers at Ronald McDonald House at Stanford to develop the new Happy Wheels hospitality cart pro bono. Learn more about the design process by watching the video below.
